NFL Owners Might Opt Out of CBA Next Week
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the NFL owners could opt out of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement as soon as Tuesday. The decision by the owners would have no affect on the 2008 and 2009 seasons, but would hold many repercussions for 2010 and beyond.
Specter wants further investigation into Spygate
Arlen Specter held a press conference Wednesday criticizing the NFL on their handling of the Patriots scandal.  The Senior Republican of the Senate Judiciary Committee indicated he would support an independent investigation like Major League Baseball's Mitchell Report.

(WGR 550) -- Buffalo Bills rookie wide-out James Hardy reportedly pulled a gun on his father during an argument, according to a police report filed Sunday with the football star’s name edited out.

The Buffalo Bills announced this weekend that the NFL's all-time sack leader, Bruce Smith, is the next to be enshrined on the Wall of Fame at Ralph Wilson Stadium. 

Smith, selected 1st overall by the Buffalo Bills in 1985, playedwith the team until 2000, finishing his career in 2004 with the Washington Redskins. In his 19-year career he earned the Defensive Player of the Year honor

(WGR 550) -- From the podium to the practice field in precious few days, the Buffalo Bills' rookies are getting a taste of life in the NFL at One Bills Drive this weekend.

Friday commenced the camp, and the Bills officially announced the addition of nine undrafted free agents.
Bills Pick Up Quarterback Matt Baker
The Dolphins dropped quarterback Matt Baker just after the draft and the Bills have swooped in to pick him up off waivers. 
Buffalo announced the acquisition today. Baker spent 3 months with the Dolphins. He was an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans in 2006.

Baker spent time with the Cardinals and Saints practice squads last season. He also was a part of Dallas' practice

(WGR 550) -- The Bills duties don't end on draft day, as the frenetic free agent signing period continued Monday morning. It was one of many topics broached by Bills chief operating officer Russ Brandon on The Howard Simon Show.

"It’s like the floor on Wall Street," Brandon told Jeremy White and Nick Mendola. "It’s one of our favorite times."
