Bills Announce New Coaching Hires

Orchard Park, NY -- Just four weeks after the conclusion of the season for the Buffalo Bills, the team has announced the hiring of two new coaches and announced new assignments for three others.

The team issued the following press release:

"The Buffalo Bills today announced Andrew Dees and Eric Thatcher have been hired to the team’s coaching staff.  Dees becomes the assistant offensive line coach and Thatcher will serve as the defensive quality control coach.
The team also announced Bob Bicknell will coach wide receivers after coaching tight ends the previous two seasons.  Adrian White will serve as the assistant defensive backs coach after serving as the defensive quality control coach since 2008.  Bob Sanders will coach linebackers after coaching outside linebackers last season.

Dees joins the Bills after spending last season as the running backs coach/recruiting coordinator at the University of Massachusetts.  He coached offensive line at Temple from 2006-2010.  He coached tight ends at the University at Buffalo from 2001-2005.  The 16-year college coaching veteran enters his first season in the NFL.

Thatcher joins the Bills after spending last season as the assistant defensive backs coach at Mercyhurst College.  Thatcher was a three-year starting free safety at Pittsburgh.  Upon his graduation in 2008, Thatcher started his coaching career at St. Vincent College in 2009 and then served as a graduate assistant at Pitt in 2010."

Does more mean better?
I don't think so.

Wow
Seriously? Who are these guys?
01/30/2012 3:05PM
No press conference coverage?
You'd think the new "official" Bills stations would have every press conference live.

COLLEGE COACHES
Gee I wonder why they hired college coaches? Anything to do with money? You have to pay NFL coaches, this cheap owner makes me sick....
01/30/2012 4:13PM
Alright
Lets get this out of the way early......Shut up Lloyd!!! NO one wants to hear your boycott, championship product, mediocrity, fans like you are the problem, Losers, Buffalonians are L0sers, Ralphie, comments........Although I am sure my plea will not work, it had to be said.

KICK OFF INTO THE END ZONE
SINCE KICK OFFS DEEP INTO THE END ZONE ARE NON-RETURNABLE, WE NEED A NEW RULE THAT ALLOWS AN OPTION FOR A PLAYER TO PASS THE BALL OUT OF THE END ZONE TO ANOTHER PLAYER. THIS WOULD BRING MUCH MORE EXCITEMENT TO THE BORING NON KICK OFF RETURNS.

Whoopee!
Double whoopee!
01/30/2012 5:29PM
Hmmm
I guess it makes sense. I guess I can buy the "its easier to find the personell" take. Boy, they sure were hot after a 3-4 scheme before though. The cynical side of me thinks "yeah, of course, they ran it 40 to 45 % of the plays lastyear and it worked really good......wait.....no it didnt".

What they need
Is a new S&C coach. All the injuries make it clear that who they have now isn't working out.

To the genius (s)...
on here spewing their nega-fan venom already. Tell me one top notch assitant O-Line coach in the NFL. Give me some names of WR coaches that were available this year that were better. YOU CAN'T.

Too Early for Coaching hires?
I understand a sense of urgency, but do we have to rush these new coaching picks? If a quality coach becomes available and our musical chairs are all filled up, then what? If someone decent emerges and would like to be considered, then what? Just saying we continue to slot no-names on this team and it adds to the frustration.

Typical
Never heard of these guys. This is the NFL, not college. There are NFL coaches out there experienced for the pros. Just typical and the saga of ON THE CHEAP continues at One Bills Drive. What a joke!!! Count on NO HOME GAMES ON TV next season.

something new
I think next year we should look at high school coaches, maybe that will work to....
02/01/2012 2:17PM
same old same old
No names that they don't have to pay the big bucks to. Another year coming of disappointment.
02/02/2012 11:51AM
YES...
These coaches are the best thing since Microsoft announced Vista as the new better OS.

New way to go
Time for the bills to try something that works. Sure, Andy Dees doesn't come with NFL experience as a coach but comes with experience in college ball coaching a number of positions plus time as a player. Sixteen years in the business is worth a lot and trying to get kids to measure up is tougher than the pros who know they have to perform or they end up selling used cars.
