There are conflicting reports detailing the latest turn in the Brett Favre saga. Both ESPN's Chris Mortensen and the NFL Network's Adam Schefter both are reporting that Favre and Packers' GM Ted Thompson talked on the phone Thursday. However, what was said is under debate.
Adam Schefter said that Favre "conveyed he is planning to return to the team and report to training camp this weekend." In addition, Schefter said, "The conversation between Favre and Thompson was said to be cordial and professional, and the Packers recognize that they are a better team with their iconic quarterback on the roster." To rejoin the NFL, Favre must send a letter seeking reinstatement to the league and no such request has been made.
