Thanks, Roger, for not being a wuss

Roger Federer has dominated his sport, men's tennis, on a level that few athletes have ever achieved. But slowly creeping closer to his No. 1 status has been Rafael Nadal, and not only has Federer not dominated him, it's closer to being the reverse. Nadal has beaten Federer at the French Open four straight times, often handily, and in 2007 took Federer to five grueling sets in the Wimbledon final before losing.

Then came yesterday at Wimbledon, when Nadal was just one game from a straight-sets win over the world's top player and five-time defending champion. But it was at this moment, after the first of two in-match rain delays, that Federer began to show the courage befitting of a player most tennis experts had agreed has already earned the distinction, Best Player Ever.

For the first half of the match Federer's tennis had been sloppy, and his demeanor sour. As a fan of his, I had become annoyed that Federer had made somewhat of a habit of being nowhere near his A-game when facing Nadal. His body language was so stoic and negative that I wondered whether he even believed he could win, similar to how he carried himself at the French.

Finally, Federer began to look himself. He didn't win. He did, however, play like the champion that he's been. He stepped up, and the result was an incredible match between, I think, the sport's two best-ever players.

Who are you picking to win on Sunday?
