I checked Lee Evans and Eric Moulds stats and picked out their best back to back seasons to compare them to Stevie these 2 years.
Moulds once signed a 6 year, $42 million deal with the Bills
Evans last contract with Bills was a 4 year, $37 million extension.
For what its worth, Stevie is in position to record back to back 1000 yard seasons if he has 36 yards on sunday. Moulds never had back to back 1000 yard seasons although he did have 4 of them over 7 years. Evans never had back to back 1000 yard seasons either and had only 2 total during his time with the Bills.
After showing his stats and considering what we've seen as Bills fans that he's not in the best situation and still putting-up good numbers, he deserves what he's asking. 3 years at $7.5 these days is reasonable. An ordinary person like myself can't believe what he just typed! That is a LOT OF MONEY!

Good Info
Only the people who have made uptheir mind that they dont want the Bills to pay Johnson millions will not be swayed. Its like a political converstion. They will just discount these facts and stick to their guns. The Bills though.......Boy oh boy......They better pay him.
12/29/2011 8:55PM
$7.5 m pay-the-man
Stats don't lie!
12/29/2011 10:02PM
I don't see
I hope Overdorph notices that we Don't see Naamon, Brad, David, or Roscoe on anywhere on this list.
12/29/2011 10:12PM
Nope
Not worth that much in my eyes, sorry but you gotta learn how to catch
12/29/2011 11:06PM
hmmmm
ok since with the facts and stats.. sign him...
Mike
12/29/2011 11:08PM

Survey says...
Pay the man.
12/30/2011 12:35AM
Sign him
The guy has been nothing but a very good player, great teammate, hardworking, resilient from injuries, and a good friend. just sign the man
12/30/2011 3:44AM
sign him
dont create yet another hole which creates yet another wasted pick in the draft
12/30/2011 8:29AM
To Mr. Nope
Learn to catch?? He is about to record TWO 1000 years seasons in a row!! I think he can catch just fine, just isn't perfect, but who is??? YOU?!?!
12/30/2011 8:37AM
Sign Him!
I think he will only get better. He played injured the entire season and managed to have a great year. He may be considered immature by some of his recent actions but he has talent and the desire. They paid Lee Evans big money a couple years back and all I heard was he was a classy guy but all I remember is a handful of plays where he needed to lay the body out to make a catch and he just reached his hands.
12/30/2011 8:49AM
cheap shot drama queen
this guy don't deserve nothing after going after eric berrys knee at the beginning of the year
12/30/2011 8:57AM
to cheap shot drama queen
you are right stevie "dont't deserve nothing". he deserves the 7.5 million
12/30/2011 9:35AM
dolphins
Come to miami buddy would love to have you
12/30/2011 9:50AM
How is this guy worth twice what Jordy Nelson's getting?
Stevie Johnson is a WR2 on most quality teams.
12/30/2011 10:01AM
Resign
I hate how everyone always says he can't catch. He ALWAYS catches the ball on slants when he's about to get laid out and he only has 3 drops on the season. He's still pretty young and can only get better at running routes and catching. Also, he eventually mature and hopefully score enough touchdowns and just celebrate with his teammates instead of making a spectacle.
12/30/2011 10:09AM
They can't let him walk...
Has he dropped a couple of big catches? Yes. Is he consistently the best receiver we have? Yes. Are the Bills better without him? NO! It's a fair salary... look at the company he's in. He's neck and neck with Larry Fitzgerald in stats, and I think we'd ALL pay Fitzgerald 7.5 mil a year to play in Buffalo. So, if the stats are comparable, the salary should be, too.
12/30/2011 10:32AM
Just not sure?
While I think the Bills need to keep Stevie, I just do not see him as a premier WR. When thinking of Great WR now and in the past I know this great wideouts do not drop huge catches!!! He has droped 2 catches that woule have been game winners, I would bet Jerry Rice, Andre Reed, Tim Brown or today Larry Fitcerald, Calvin Johnson or Mike Wallace do not drop those catches. They hit him in the hands, he did not even have to make a diving effort to make the catch. My HS football coach always said if you can touch it you can catch it. I think that he is thinkning about his endzone dance instead of 1, catch the ball, 2. run past everyone to the endzone and be a player! I do not know why I just do not see him at 7.5 million maybe 5-6 but I do not see people gameplaning around him like Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald. Those guys are doubled all the time and are still ahead of him. I like Stevie and would like to keep him but 7.5, really? I know that they need to get paid and set up for their future but his one year salary is more than I will probably make in my lifetime.
12/30/2011 11:20AM
PAY THE MAN
theres no reason not to pay him, the offense will only grow with pieces like stevie around. $7.5 isn't so bad, considering the franchise tag probably gets $9.5.
12/30/2011 11:38AM
SIGN HIM NOW
he would easily get more than that on the open market...this franchise is already a laughing stock don't mess such an easy thing up OBD
12/30/2011 11:43AM
Pay him, he will perform.
Keep this important piece to the O weaponry. Work him into the schemes as an outlet threat and he will perform in years to come. He will also continue to mature (with some team mates help). Coach him up and he'll learn to be a better professional. Otherwise, he'll be another Ex that will exploit the front office errors. Pay him.
12/30/2011 11:46AM
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter what we think or want as long as the OLD mans in charge the Bills will never spend the money or get better. Another year of watching playoff football with no vested interest !!
12/30/2011 11:48AM
how about the 49ers
He would be a great fit for the 49ers. especially since he is from the bay area.
12/30/2011 11:58AM
Let Stevie go...he is better off without you Bills fans
Stevie has 4 official drops on the year - look at what some of the other Top & most Highly paid Wrs have in drops:
Roddy White - 13
Brandon Marshall - 13
Wes Welker -11
Victor Cruz - 11
Dwayne Bowe - 10
DeSean Jackson - 9
Michael Crabtree - 9
Hakeem Nicks - 8
Anquan Boldin - 8
Calvin Johnson - 6
Steve Smith (cAR) - 6
Vincent Jackson - 6
Antonio Brown - 5
Greg Jennings - 4
Steve Johnson - 4
So if Stevie Johnson can't catch, and isn't worth his asking price, or more, then are the other guys on this list not worth their asking price? Typical Bills fans who dont know what they are talking about and criticize their top player to the point he leaves.
What Stevie has done ranks atop the Bills all time WRs list..not to mention his quarterback, who was paid a ton of money, is absolutely terrible. He has been a disaster ever since he got his paycheck. Ever hear Stevie complain? No. Stevie's been playing all year with several imjuries. Ever hear him complain? NEver. He has been playing without an extension, but has never complained like Desean Jackson, Payton Hillis, or other players have. He just goes to work, makes plays, and still it isnt good enough for you idiot Bills fans.
12/30/2011 12:05PM
Drops?
Roddy White, Wes Welker, Brandon Marshall, Victor Cruz, Donald Driver, Calvin Johnson, Steve Smith, Michael Crabtree, Vincent Jackson, Dwayne Bowe...all have more drops than Stevie. Shoot Greg Jennings has the same number of drops (4) as Stevie does, but you "Bills Fans" say stevie can't catch. Unbelieveable. Stevie has been playing hurt all year with a QB that has played horrifically poor despite being paid at the top of the QB market. Stevie has never complained, just shows up and produces and you guys complain. Buffalo doesnt deserve a Stevie Johnson
12/30/2011 2:36PM
Relax Drops?
The people who do not want to sign Stevie and pay him an evidently slotted and fair contract are just a very vocal minority. Like the Tea Party and other extreme conservatives. The poll yesterday said about 10% dont want him back. Thats pretty evident that Bills fans want him. You will never get 100% for a number of factors. There are the goofballs who just like to be contrarians, there is a little racism, there are those who just cannot concieve of someone making that kind of money for playing a game. The last is particularly interesting to me. It seems from my conversations with people of this opinion, that while they are against athletes getting paid big money, they are not as passionate about "golden parachutes" paid out to top execs who maybe even run their companies into the ground and still get tens of millions in bonuses. This has always perplexed me.

And.....
There is always the redneck construction company management mindset. This mindset is based on the premise that a satisfied workforce is a complacent workforce. These people expect nothing but the best from others. Others being the key word in that sentence. It is a very disgusting, me first, "excellence is only achieved through hard work and I am not going to be the one doing it" mindset, but fairly common theme in many aspects of life. Basically you underpay someone and berate them that their performance is below average. All the while you know that their performance is above average. The key is to keep this secret from them. This reaps many benefits for the manager and company. The targeted employees will occasionally put in extra unpaid hours because he believes he needs to make up for his lack of production. He will expend energy, and time that is taken away from his family or other off work hours activities. He will be constatnly under stress, feeling he may lose his job any minute, and needing to try harder and harder. Many people believe that aperson must be pressed to thier limits of stress and beyond to be productive. That is their best. If that is not happening, they are not geting their moneys worth. Of course a key to understanding this is that the manager is not putting in near that level of effort, nor is he that stressed. It is more common than you think. It has been successful for some managers. I suspect they are the vocal minority. Them and those few employees they let in on the scam, and pay well. It all falls apart when the employee realises the reality and goes to work for a decent company. But then, they just find another newbie desperate to prove himself, and the cycle continues.
12/30/2011 3:20PM
Looks good
He clearly is effective against Revis too. Sign him.
12/30/2011 4:16PM
pay stevie!!!
pay the man!!! you have to who else you got? nobody on our team can fill his spot!!! drafting a guy is stupid without someone to show him the rope's. for once dont be stupid buffalo!!!! pay the guy
12/30/2011 7:33PM
For those of you who ignorantly say Stevie cant catch figure it out
AFC East Catch Percentage
Player Team Receptions Drops Catch Percentage
1. Wes Welker Patriots 104 2 98.1
2. Deion Branch Patriots 48 1 98.0
3. Steve Johnson Bills 68 2 97.1
4. Santonio Holmes Jets 47 2 95.9
5. David Nelson Bills 56 3 94.9
6. Brian Hartline Dolphins 29 2 93.5
7. Davone Bess Dolphins 42 3 93.3
8. Plaxico Burress Jets 38 3 92.7
9. Brandon Marshall Dolphins 70 6 92.1
12/31/2011 12:06PM
He Needs to Become Steve, Not Stevie
The asking price is decent for the value, but Stevie has to grow up. More worrying about his game and less on his TD celebrations.
01/01/2012 9:21PM
Who else?
He's an idiot for sure, but stats don't lie. Also if we don't sign him, who could possibly be our number one receiver next year? He does need a clause in his contract that imposes a fine for every excessive celebration penalty he takes.
01/02/2012 12:01PM
bye-bye stevie bird!
jeez if they drop stevie johnson i wonder what position they are going to go after in the first round of the draft??? hmmmm.... could it be, wait!!! yes i got it!!!! a WIDE RECEIVER. last time I checked Calvin Johnson's twin isn't available in this years draft, so its a perfect idea so continue to disassemble this team and never do anything smart. Correction: Signing a journeyman backup quarterback to a long term deal was S-M-R-T!
01/02/2012 12:17PM
Time to Grow UP
I agree Stevie needs to become Steven Johnson. And I think he can and will mature. Send him the message offer him $$7-7.2mil with a "I grew up" bonus at the end of the season.
01/02/2012 12:24PM
It's time to grow up
Offer him $7mil with a .5mil end of the year bonus for good behavior. Drop the showboating and stop dropping the game winning catches.
