In last season's Super Bowl the New York Giants won without their starting tight end Jeremy Shockey, and today they found the 7-year veteran expendable. The 28-year old Shockey is dealt to the New Orleans Saints in return for a 2nd round and 5th round pick in 2009.
Last season Shockey played in 14 games for the Giants, totaling 57 catches for 619 yards and scoring 3 touchdowns. The brash tight end has made the Pro Bowl four times in his career, and will be reunited with New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton. Payton was the offensive coordinator for the Giants during Shockey's rookie campaign, when he totaled 74 catches for 894 yards.
