Sabres Regier updates off season progress


The Sabres must give qualifying offers to their restricted free agents or they will become unrestricted on July 1st. One restricted free agent is Tyler Ennis. Sabres GM Darcy Regier said no negotiations have started,

Former Sabre Cyr Passes Away at 48


Reports out of Canada state that former Buffalo Sabres forward Paul Cyr has died at the age of 48. Cyr was drafted by the Sabres with the 9th overall selection in the 1982 draft and played for Buffalo for six seasons. He amassed 101 career goals and also spent time with the New York Rangers and Hartford Whalers.

The U.S. eliminated with 8.8 seconds left


First Canada was eliminated this morning from the World Championships being upset by Slovakia and now the United States is out.
 

Sabres Sekera's shot helps upset Canada


Just :05 after the Ducks Ryan Getzlaf took a major kneeing penalty, the Sabres Andrej Sekera ripped a shot that was tipped in by Michal Handzus of the Sharks to lead Slovakia to a huge 4-3 upset of Canada at the World Championships.

Report: NHL Files Termination Notice of CBA


The NHL Collective Bargainining Agreement would have carried over to next season if the NHL and NHLPA both failed to file a termination notice by Friday, May 18th. According to the Hockey News, the NHL has indeed informed the Players Association that it plans to terminate the agreeement.

Vancouver Canucks' general manager Mike Gillis told The Globe and Mail today that former Canucks center and current Buffalo Sabre Cody Hodgson "didn't want to be" in Vancouver.
