Instead of doing the normal recap Thursday, I'll defer to Trent White, last year's Rookie. After today's matchup, Trent called up and brought up two great points. First, he made sure to talk as much as possible during his on-air segment with Vic last year so he could limit what he would say. Second, he thought Steve could have jumped on a small error Vic made and should have been more aggressive.
Very simply put and 100% correct (which is also why Trent won last year). Vic may not have been on the top of his game Thursday morning but he was clearly the dominant voice during the ten minutes on-air and even tried to lead the conversation at points. If you work at WGR, there are times when you have to do more than just give your opinion and step out to be "the guy." Vic clearly can do that.
However, Steve did very well this morning. He has a very good radio voice, knows his stuff and clearly felt comfortable on the air. Steve ran into the same problem Vic did last year which was running into the favorite in the competition. Last year, Trent was on fire. This year, Steve needed to learn a little bit more about radio and definitely needs to assert himself more if he wants to win next year...which he just might do if he applies again.
