Rookie Recap - James "Jimbo" Columbo

monkey@wgr550.com

I've been writing the recaps and giving you an insight into who might win the WGR Rookie since we started on July 8th.  Since each contestant could learn something from these recaps and get an extra advantage, I'm going to only give the positives of each candidate after their hour-long appearances on the air.

"Jimbo" definitely has a unique sense of humor and can deliver one liners.  In fact, he may have scored the best "original take" of the entire 4-year competition when he claimed that Chippewa Street is "Satan's version of a GAP commercial."  I have no idea what that meant, but it absolutely made me laugh and was completely original.

From 7-8pm Tuesday night,  "Jimbo" was kicking back in his own sports bar and holding court.  He had a plan of how he wanted to run his hour and pretty much took the lead the entire time.  "Jimbo" was aggressive and made sure everyone in the audience knew his opinion about everything.  He talked about everything from the sports scene to how much he loved Buffalo.

Finally, "Jimbo" is just unique.  Nick called him a wildcard but I think he really knows exactly who he is.  "Jimbo" said he was the youngest of give in his family and always tried to be recognized at the dinner table his own way.  If you take a listen to his hour, you can hear exactly that attitude.

There are not too many people who are true to themselves 100% all the time.  "Jimbo" seems like the kind of guy who will never shy away from a conversation and give you his true opinion.

I'm not the only vote but those are my positives from Tuesday.  I'll give you my negatives after we crown our winner Monday morning.  In the meantime, voice your own opinion on the WGR Whiner Line - 843-0234.
