Red Wings Beat Stars 2-1 to take a 2-0 Series Lead

Detroit, MI (WGR 550) -- The Detroit Red Wings held off the Dallas Stars 2-1 Saturday to take a 2-0 series lead in the Western Conference Final.
Darren Helm put the Red Wings on the board first scoring 5:56 into the first period.Dallas’ defenseman, Stephane Robidas, would tie the game midway through the first period on the power play.Later in the first, Red Wing’s forward, Henrik Zetterberg, would score on the power play which ended up being the Game-winning goal.
Dallas’ Marty Turco made 32 saves in the loss, while Detroit’s Chris Osgood stopped just 17 shots, improving to 8-0 as a starter in the playoffs this season.
The Red Wings were able to win even without their hottest player.Johan Franzen was announced as a line-up scratch before the game due to concussion-like symptoms. Franzen has scored an NHL-high 27 times since March 2, a 27-game streak that includes a franchise-record 12 goals in the postseason.
Game 3 will take place Monday night in Dallas.
