OTTAWA (WGR 550) -- The Buffalo Sabres lone All-Star will be teaming up with a few unlikely allies in this year’s star-studded game.
Jason Pominville was selected by Team Daniel Alfredsson in the 18th round. When the Ottawa Senators' capatain announced the pick, He pointed out that he respected Pominville and recalled the Sabres forward beating him on the overtime goal that sent the Sabres to the Eastern Conference Championship in the 2005-2006 playoffs.
Joining Pominville on Team Alfredsson are: Henrik Lundqvist, Erik Karlsson, Jason Spezza, Claude Giroux, Steven Stamkos, Daniel Sedin, Milan Michalek, Henrik Sedin, James Neal, John Tavares, Scott Hartnell and Logan Couture.
On the other end of the rink, Team Zdeno Chara will be joined by: Joffrey Lupul, Pavel Datsyuk, Evgeni Malkin, Marian Hossa, Corey Perry, Phil Kessel, Patrick Kane, Jarome Iginla, Marian Gaborik, Jordan Eberle, Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn to take on Pominville’s team.
Detroit Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk was the first overall pick by Team Chara, followed by Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson to Team Alfredsson. San Jose Sharks’ center Logan Couture was the final pick of the draft.
Pominville is 14th in the league in points (47) and 13th in the league in assists (30). The Sabres captain also is second on his team in scoring with 17 goals. Thomas Vanek leads the blue and yellow with 19 goals, but has 41 points. Another Sabre joining Pominville at this year’s festivities is Luke Adam. The young forward will suit up at this year’s Skills Competition for Team Chara.
The All-Star festivities begin on Saturday with the Skills Competition at 8:00 PM, followed by the All-Star game on Sunday at 4:00 PM.

Big deal...
Pominville is an afterthought on anotherr meaningless Sabres roster. Heck, he's an afterthought on the All Star team. Face facts, the team isn't going anywhere and all the cheerleaders in the world can't make the games interesting. Can't wait until the off-season when we all stare with mouths agape as Terry Pegula does NOTHING and keeps Ruff and Regier. Yep, can't wait.

Some teams out there are looking for defensemen. Sekera and Gragnanni for a case of Tasty Cakes anyone???? The Avalanche want Derek Roy. Stastny anyone??? Miller a Duck? Bring on Getzlaf!!! I can handle that to still have a shot at making the playoffs and maybe a cup this year yet.
