Philadelphia, PA (WGR 550) -- Marian Hossa scored twice to help The Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 and move the Penguins within one game from the Stanley Cup Final.
Ryan Whitney put the Penguins on the scoreboard first, scoring a power play goal in the first five minutes of the game.Marian Hossa would add to the score 2:38 minutes later, as the trade-deadline acquisition beat Marty Biron to make it 2-0 in the first period.Ryan Malone scored 9:58 into the third period, with Hossa adding an empty-net goal with: 54 seconds left in the game.
The Penguins played sound defensively Tuesday, only allowing 1 goal on 18 shots.R.J. Umberger was the only Flyer to score in the loss.
One more win against their division rivals, and the Penguins will advance to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr led the Penguins to back-to-back titles in 1991 and 92. Game 4 will be Thursday, May 15th in Philadelphia. The game can be heard right here on WGR 550 with pregame starting at 7:15pm.
