This is huge! Hopefully this means the end of the Darcy Regier era in Buffalo and hopefully Pegula will spend some money to bring a cup here to Buffalo a city that certainly deserves it! Yes!

There has been a plethora of trades today. Big names are being moved including a big name off the Blues in Brewer. If Darcy sits around too long, only garbage will be left. His competitors in the division have been busy. I need to see some action to buy into this. Mr. Pegula I believe you really nwant to win. Now tell that lazy GM to get busy.

If Pegula continues with Regier as GM, the happy bubble will burst. The excitement of new ownership will be gone.If you notice, the real GM's in the league have been proactive all week and many trades have been completed. Do nothing Darcy sits on his hands as usual and will say there were no real deals out there and the chemistry is perfect with his club. There will be no change or enthusiasm until Regier is GONE and replaced by a real, proactive GM.

We are just as close to a top 5 pick in the draft as we are to a playoff spot. If I'm Terry Pegula I dump the dead weight on this team (Connolly, Grier, Neidermeyer, Rivet) and let the young guns play (Adam, Byron, Gragnani). This season is a lost cause. Start building for next year today.

Everyone who says Lindy Ruff should be fired is an idiot. for Lindy to have this team that regier and galisano gave him anywhere near a playoff spot is just incredible! I cant wait to see what he can do with some talent in front of him. he deserves it

Well, Pegula should be quite impressed by the work ethic of his new employees. Two crappy performances. Move Ruff up, dump Regier, and start doing what Toronto and Ottawa are doing.

It is time for a change in the organization and the house must be cleaned. Jerry Jones fired "TOM LANDRY" one of the greatest coaches ever when he bought the Cowboys. Lindy Ruff is a good coach, but 13 years is too long without a title. He had Hasek in his prime and couldn't finish the job. Terry Pegula said we will win the cup and then win it again. I doubt he can do it with the status quo. It is time to start selling and move on. A good start would be with (3 goal a game, Ryan "Mr. Softee" Miller. Get something for him before it's too late. He is the most over paid, overrated goalie in the league. New England (in the NFL) would dump him now whie they can. It is time for new thinking. Hopefully Pegula knows what he is doing.

Please get rid of all the shrimps on this team and all the dead weight. That's the big problem here. Start from scratch just saying.

Ruff and Regier have had cheap owners since they got here. Who knows if they were the problem or the ownership. I hated Quinn beforehand and we got him again. Let's give them a chance to see what they can do with an owner committed to winning not turning a profit. I agree there is a lot of dead weight on this team and it should be wacked, but the season isn't over yet. Some house cleaning, good signings and some youth could make us a contender. Also, someone needs to tell Lindy to stop molding players to his system and design a system around the strength of his players. Our teams rarely have personality. Only when we had guys that fit the system did we have an identity (and ownership let them walk). Tommy G is making out like a bandit. He has the gratitude for saving the franchise, and he is pocketing over $100M. Smart guy - too bad he didn't care about winning a cup because he would have found a way. Miller's numbers aren't what they were last year because the team is playing awful defensively in front of him. he can't do it all. Myers has become lazy, whats up with that? Is he bored or possibly ill. I hope he snaps out of it. He cost us the game against the Blues I thought. Speaking of which, we should get Conklin back as our #2 guy. He is a decent #2 goalie. RFLR

Where do all you people get that Golisano was cheap? That's ridiculous we have just not spent the money wisely. They spend more then enough to have a cup contender but you can't give 7 mil to a guy that has no one to pass him the puck and only tries half the time or $3 mil a piece to a bunch of other guys that only show up for one period!!! I also agree with the above Ruff does not coach to his players abilities and refuses to discipline anyone.

Now Mancari is a great player? If so then why did no other team sign him this past year, he decided to take buffalo offer late into the offseason, stop blaming ruff for not bringing up mancari he is not the answer and stop blaming ruff for draft picks those are scouts drafting little guys.

Ive heard enough about the "system". Lindys system is to win games 2-1 but we have crappy D, lazy forwards who dont backcheck, a shaky overplayed goalie and 2 goalscorers who show up in stetches and then vanish. Heres what we do have: We have 3 forwards who are 5'6 160 who get knocked off the puck. We have 3 solid D in Montador, Weber and Myers. The other 4 are awful. I never thought Id say it but I want Tallinder back. We have 2 goal scorers who show up whenever they feel like it, however in some fairness they have nobody to get them the puck. We have one goalie who has played too much and another that hasnt played enough. And we have a coach that admittedly cant manage his goaltenders and keeps guys in the lineup (Sekera, Niedermayer) that turn the puck over and offensively have combined for one goal. This team in too soft, too small and too tired of Lindys system. And as for bringing back Conklin??? You think hes gonna WANT to come back and play for a guy that kept him chained to the bench? He got 9 starts and went 3-5-2 when he was Millers backup in 06-07. We shouldnt even have a backup. Every 30th game skate with 6 and put up a shooter tutor in our net. Cant be any worse than Lindys current goalie rotation.

bring in a head coach that's actually won the Stanley Cup...yeah Ruff's been saddled with Regier, blah, blah, blah, but what about a few years ago when we had the horses (President's Trophy)...same old same old (no cup). Just saying...

I actually think they may be onto something and then they all play like pansies again...aka Tim Connolly and Jochen Hecht. I have had enough. It's time to "sell, sell, sell"...

Nobody says Mancari is "Great," just good enough to play in the NHL. Now, why shouldn't we blame Ruff for the players? He has coached for 14 years, surely he has a say in who plays on his team? You mean he is that weak a coach in the eyes of the GM that he can't say "NO" to a useless player like Byron? He can't tell Regier that Gerbe is a non-factor in nearly every game he plays? He can't tell that Sekera stinks? Wow, how mealymouthed is this guy as a coach?

Terry has already lost respectability. You just don't make statments about winning the cup and winning it again. He is clueless as to how far away this organization is. Too much money allocated on the wrong players, average farm system, no scouting, lack of blue chip talent. How can he and his big check book fix that? You have to create a culture of winning and hold people accountable. To really get to where he wants to go it's going to require what Toronto is doing. Admit your rebuilding and trade what can give you the most high picks, top prospects and young top players. St Louis and Colorado may be bad as well but at least they have building blocks for a solid core for the next ten years.

Your son is just not good enough. Please stop complaining about it on the WGR boards. He has good work ethic, just tell him to practice harder and spend more time overall doing it. Gerbe is 3 years younger, is faster, and a better scorer. Not to mention he was rookie of the year in the minors. Give Gerbe some time and you will see that he is a good player and will be a nice 15 - 20 goal scorer for us when we get a solid #1 line center to take pressure off the other lines. Right now the Sabres have a 2nd line playing as the 1st line, a 3rd line playing as the second line, a 4th line playing as the 3rd line, and a 4th line playing as a 4th line.

Did you ever think that Myers looked terrible against the Blues because his defensive partner that everyone wants to be benched (Sekera) was finally benched? Myers looked to me as if he didnt trust his defense partner and they didnt mesh well during the game. It appeared they had a lot of communication breakdowns and that he missed the aggressive play of Sekera. Myers may have done a lot for Tallinder last year, but its called a defensive pair for a reason. Tallinder did just as much for Myers. This year Myers is just getting comfortable with Sekera 50 plus games into the season and then we remove Sekera because he is struggling. I agreed with the move to do so, Sekera needed the message, but it showed that Myers relies on Sekera a good amount.

Sekera and Niedermayer were both sat down for 1 game. We lost both games. In the one game, Myers looked lost without his defensive partner and in the other game I dont think Niedermayer was missed, but I also don't think we were any better. The only way this team wins is when they all play together and trust each other to be in position. It is a testament to not having enough talent. Which, is why Lindy has a "system" like he does. If you have no talent, you need to play a 5 man game!

Stop posting. The call for a player from Portland comes from the Portland coach, the guy the player plays for all season and the guy who sees the player play all season. Lindy calls the Portland coach and says "hey, I need a left wing / center / right wing / etc." Then the Portland coach says "I think Byron would be a good fit." Ruff doesnt have time to sit and watch Portland game film every night and decide who to call up each game. Ruff and the GM get to evaluate those players when they are called up and in the offseason when they give them all tryouts. He isnt going to say Gerbe is a non factor in almsot every game he plays in because Gerbe is a rookie who is searching for his style. He did sit Sekera, but will also not tell him "he stinks." Yes, Sekera has struggled, and I would call him streaky, but the kid has had some really high moments and really low moments which makes you believe he could be well worth his weight if he can keep those really high moments going for long stretches. Please stop leaning on 21 and 24 yr old hockey players to be our work horses and score 30 goals... especially if you think Mancari is the answer. Mancari may be "good enough" to play in the NHL, but Gerbe and Sekera are better still.

So, Mancari is 25 years old and his AHL numbers look like this: 71GP and 42P in 2005/2006. 64GP and 57P in 2006/2007. 80GP and 57P in 2007/2008. We switched from Rochester to Portland and his numbers improved to 73GP and 67P in 2008/2009. 74GP and 74P last season and he is currently leading the AHL with 30 Goals in his 52GP. He is 3rd in the scoring race in the AHL with his 61P. This is so far his best season in the minors and he was overshadowed by Tyler Ennis, Tim Kennedy, and Nathan Gerbe when they played on the same team as him. Ennis and Gerbe were both named Rookie of the Year in their respective years as they led all rookies in goals scored. Tim Kennedy in his rookie season (same as Gerbe's) led the rookies in assists and had more points than Gerbe. The players you named are 3 to 4 years younger than Mancari and did comparable to him if not better with years of growth remaining.

Im calling out alot of you fair weathered fans out there to be present at the Pegula conference. Yes i can't afford to call in again and will be fired, but it's worth it to me as Terry is our Savior and we must show him this is Hockey town. Ijust don't know what is more important to you people

He had the money to do the right thing. He made poor choices on who he signed and who he did'nt. He also made poor choices in how much the players got paid. he has been over paying for mid level players so long it has caught up with them. because of this they had no money to sign the proper players because their value was now too high. Poor management decisions. Bottom line Darcey needs to be fired !!!

After the presser field a Q&A session? I would love to hear what his thoughts are at this time and if he has any short term plans designed for the remaninder of the season.

How do you know he has not told Darcy those things, you really think he said get me Dominic Moore and we win the cup or maybe Torres who obviously he had no interest in from day 1 he got here? Lindy Ruff is coach not coach/gm, what coach wouldnt want better players and not the same re tread players, why do you think Lindy didnt accept a contract extension? It is because he was sick of the break even attitude, he was going to leave at end of year and go to a team with a winning attitude and owner, now that pegula is here I am sure he will stay if he is wanted back. Lindy plays the guys he is givin, he relys on the dineen the portland coach what player should be called up. If Mancari was good enough to play in the nhl consistenly he would have been signed by another team last offseason but just like Tim Kennedy every other team passed on him and he accepted buffalo's offer late in the offseason

The Sabres will have five or six new players on their roster by the time the deadline ends. It all starts after the press conference tomorrow. Bet on it!

Welcome Back to Buffalo Mr. Pegula, Thanks for buying our team. We are all excited to see what the new era brings. I am sure you have some great plans on what to do here, and i cant wait to see them. Read between the lines. Regier is gone 100%. Pegula has watched his mistakes over and over. Also when he signed the purchase agreement he game regier a list of players not to trade. Why would he do that? He knows sleepy Darcy rarely if ever trades. He did it because he didn't want darcy to be so angry about losing his job that he made a bunch of trades. Pegula couldn't officialy fire Darcy until feb 22nd but he could restrict which of his future assets could be moved. During his pressed he'll officially announce Darcy is gone and that mr black is the acting gm for the rest of the future. The players know which is why theyve been so horrible lately. They know all bets are off when Darcy is gone and there will be changes.

I love how EVERYONE wants to blame Ruff and Regier, but nobody wants to blame pretty boy Mr. Softee, AKA High Glove Side, AKA Ryan Miller. A few good saves doesnt make up for the lousy ones that ALWAYS go by him, especially as of late. Sit Miller for therest of the season and bring up Enroth...period.
