North Tonawanda Routs Williamsville North 48-2



The North Tonawanda Lumberjacks made some noise Friday night when they trounced the Williamsville North Spartans 48-2 on WGR’s coverage of High School Football.

The Lumberjacks jumped off to a great start when Patrick Angelhow broke-out with a 34-yard rushing touchdown on North Tonawanda’s second offensive play of the game.  N.T. added on to their lead when Angelhow hooked up with Brandon Burtya for a 24-TD strike later in the first quarter.  The Lumberjacks widened the gap with just four seconds left in the first half, when Shawn O’Lay tossed it up to Ian Gilhousen to help N.T. go up 21-2 going into halftime.   

Williamsville North had a tough time getting things going, as their only points in the game from a safety in the first half.  The second half was not any kinder to the Spartans, as Angelhow scored his second rushing touchdown at the end of the third quarter, Angelhow threw another touchdown to Buryta to make the score 35-2 going into the fourth quarter. 

The scoring continued for the Lumberjacks when Angelhow scored his third rushing touchdown of the game from seven yards out to take a commanding 41-2 lead.  N.T. went on to win the game 48-2, after Luke Topolski ran in a five-yard touchdown to put the icing on the cake.

With the win, North Tonawanda evens their record to 1-1, while Williamsville North drops to 1-1.  The next Friday Night Lights matchup will be a special Saturday showdown between St. Joes and Canisius on Saturday, September, 18 at 1:00 p.m.
