Philadelphia, PA (WGR 550) - The Philadelphia Flyers live to play another game in the Eastern Conference finals as they beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 to avoid the four-game sweep.
The Flyers jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead on goals from Joffrey Lupul, Daniel Briere and Mike Richards. Both Briere and Richards's tallies were scored with the man advantage.
Pittsburgh tried to make a comeback in third period as Jordan Staal single-handedly got the Pens within a goal. The Flyers, however, hung on to their lead as Lupul sealed the win with an empty netter.
Martin Biron made 36 saves to get his first win of the conference finals. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 30 shots in a losing effort.
Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals is Sunday afternoon at the Igloo in Pittsburgh. Coverage on WGR Sportsradio 550 begins at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday.
