Edwards misses practice; Schobel, Whitner participate

(WGR 550) -- Wednesday marks Media Day at One Bills Drive, but even with the Toronto game looming Sunday, talk with Dick Jauron revolved around the team's struggles.

Jauron said he understands the heat he's been under as head coach.

"It's part of the deal clearly when you don't win that there's going to be criticism when you don't win, and it's deserved," Jauron said.

Throw in being booed off the field after Week Thirteen's loss to San Francisco, and it hasn't been pretty.

"It's never a good feeling. You want to win for everybody... When you don't, it's very disappointing," Jauron said.

Five players missed practice altogether. Trent Edwards' groin injury will settle into a daily update, as Jauron said it was "pretty sore, but better than it was yesterday." He expects a decision to go right up to game time.

Jabari Greer (knee) and Robert Royal (hamstring) did not practice but worked out with trainers, Chris Ellis missed with an ankle injury, while Chris Kelsay was absent due to personal issues, and he's expected back.

Aaron Schobel and Donte Whitner practiced. Whitner plans to play Sunday against Miami, while Schobel's status depends on how his body reacts to being back at full speed. Schobel said he hopes to be back this season, but was unwilling to predict anything.

Copeland Bryan was limited with a foot injury, while Teddy Lehman's hamstring limited him.

If the NHL banned fighting, would you miss it?
  Yes
  No
  Honestly, I don't know...but I'd be willing to give a no-fighting league a shot.
