Pittsburgh, PA (WGR 550) -- The UB Bulls weren’t able to carry momentum from last week’s 42-17 route over UTEP, as they fell to the Pittsburgh Panthers 27-16 Saturday night.
Pittsburgh running back LeSean McCoy ran all over the Bulls, rushing 19 times for 90 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Bulls had an aggressive start, after sophomore running back Brandon Thermilus ran up the middle into the end zone to put the Bulls on the board first.
But the deficit barley rattled the Panthers, as they would answer back with a touchdown and a field goal in the second quarter to take a 10-6 lead.
The Bulls were able to keep the game within reach, after kicker A.J Principe would nail a 36-yard field goal to end the first half.
However the Panthers owned the Bulls in the second half, as they never lost the lead and outscored the Bulls 17-7. The loss drops the Bulls to a 1-1 record.
The lone bright spot of the second half was in the third quarter when Bulls’ quarterback Drew Willy hooked up with Brett Hamlin for a 39 yard touchdown.
The Bulls hope to rebound next Saturday, as they will host Temple (1-1) on September 13th at noon.
