Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) -- The Buffalo Bills’ season officially starts at 1PM on Sunday, September 7th when they host the Seattle Seahawks at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
The Bills will go into the opener with a few injuries, as defensive tackle Spencer Johnson (back) is probable and linebacker Paul Posluzny is listed as questionable with a twisted ankle. Rookie tight end Derek Fine (thumb), offensive tackle Matt Murphy (shoulder) and linebacker Angelo Crowell (knee) are already ruled out.
Crowell was placed on the Injured Reserve list Thursday, after the veteran linebacker informed the Bills that he wanted to look into knee surgery that could sideline him for at least a month. Keith Ellison will start in Crowell’s place while recently re-signed Blake Costanzo will back him up.
The Buffalo Bills welcomed back offensive tackle Jason Peters Saturday morning, ending a hold-out that lasted since the Bills’ OTA’S in May. Peters is joining the Bills with the understanding that the team will work with him to restructure his contract throughout the season. Peters is already ruled out for Sunday’s game.
The Seahawks are going into Orchard Park a little banged up. Star linebacker Lofa Tatupu (knee) and defensive end Baraka Atkins (back) were limited in practice but are expected to play, while offensive tackle Shane Locklear (knee) is listed as doubtful, and starting wide receivers Bobby Engram (collarbone) and Deion Branch (knee) are already ruled out for this Sunday.
