Bills Report To Training Camp; Peters Not Present

greg@wgr550.com

The Bills filed into the dorms of St. John Fisher on Thursday. Practices will begin Friday morning in Pittsford, N.Y. as the team begins preparations for the 2008 season. Tackle Jason Peters has not reported as he waits for a new contract.

Bills' C.O.O. Russ Brandon told reporters that he has not spoken to Peters' agent about a new deal for the left tackle. Brandon says that he has not even seen him since the end of the 2007 season. The Bills expect Peters to report to training camp before midnight and honor his current contract.

Brandon said:
"It's really been a roadmap of silence to date. Guys have until midnight (Friday) to get here. I fully anticipate and hope that Jason is here. He opted not to participate in our mandatory mini-camp and has not been here for the majority, it not all, or out voluntary practices. We made a commitment to Jason 3 years ago. We expect him to honor that commitment. We expect him to be here at camp when we go on that field tomorrow (Friday) at 8:30. If he's not here, we'll move on."

One of the first players to arrive was wide-out Josh Reed. He's excited for the new season, but has the same goal as 2007:
"New Offense. New attitude. Same goal; make the playoffs, have a winning season and we'll take it from there."

The Bills signed two more of their 2008 draft picks Thursday. Third round DE Chris Ellis agreed to a 4-year contract. Sixth round RB Xavier Omon signed an undisclosed deal. First round CB Leodis McKelvin and second round WR James Hardy remain unsigned.
