Ok...with apologies to Oprah, I'm announcing the start of the Jeremy White Book Club.
Basically I'll be looking to YOU to suggest books that we read...together, alone, whatever. I'm looking for suggestions on books of ALL genres, and along the way I'll offer up my reviews. So...I'll start this thing off by listing a few of my favorites to "get the ball rolling", and we'll see where it takes us.
It's important to note that I want MORE than just sports books!!! MORE THAN SPORTS!!!

1. Moneyball - The Billy Beane book should be REQUIRED READING for sports fan...and for anyone in business. You'll ROAR through it. It's the reason I wanted to start this club.
2. Eight Men Out - Watch Field of Dreams and you'll think that Shoeless Joe was a rube...read this book, you might change your mind.
3. Busting Vegas - Ben Mezrich...He also wrote Bringing Down the House, which is now a movie "21". Brains, gambling, pride...just a GREAT read.

Not bad...football...left tackle...pretty good.
Ball Four - Jim Bouton
I understand it's revolutionary. It exposed a lot. I just think it's a smidge OVERrated.
With regards to John Feinstein:
I just can't do it. I read "The Majors" and LOVED it. I've tried 5 or 6 other offerings from Feinstein and they just prove to be do random, tedious, and generally fluffed up. I think he could chop every book he's ever written in half, and be just as good. It's not an issue with length...just unnecessary tangents and details. I'm a fan of the man, just not a fan of his work.
