(WGR 550)- Sabres winger Maxim Afinogenov fired home two third period goals to help Russia to a 4-3 shoot out victory over Belarus at the World Championships. Alexander Ovechkin of the Caps set up the second goal and scored one of his own. The Russians trailed 2-0 in the third period.
Sabres and Amerks defenseman Andrej Sekera got his first point of the World Championships getting an assist in Slovakia's 5-1 win over Slovenia
