So as this draft business has been going on, I've been getting a lot of emails asking me about scenarios and so-called "insider tips," which is awesome, but now it's time for my faithful listeners, readers and friends to help me pick a nickname for my soccer team, by voting in the web poll on my "blog page."
The Buffalo City Football Club begins play May 4 in the Buffalo and District Soccer League, or BDSL. Every worthwhile soccer team has a good nickname, like my beloved Newcastle United (The Magpies) or Manchester United (Red Devils) or Tottenham Hotspur (The Spurs).
1) Grain Millers - Our regional and historical force will run you down your city
2) Lake Freighters - We'll ship a bunch of free kicks into your net.
3) Good Neighbors - Buffalo is the City of Good Neighbors, and our lawn is better than yours.
4) Shipmen- Paying homage to Buffalo's years as an actual center of commerce... and scurvy.
5) Lighthouse Keepers- Making sure no one shipwrecks on the 190.
6) Clocktowers - You can't save the clock tower. Only Marty McFly can stop us.
7) Magicians - Because magic is scary.
8) Smilers - No one trusts a smiler.
